The questionnaires are designed according to the student’s grade level and align with CEFR standards. Here is the correspondence table:

Who Pays the Registration Fees?

The registration fees can be covered by:

• The students’ parents.

• The school.

• A joint contribution from both.

• The school’s support association.

How Much Are the Registration Fees?

The registration fees are €10 per student

How to Collect Registration Fees?

The registration fees can be paid by the students’ parents, the school, or both. Often, the school’s support association also contributes to the payment of these fees.

Payments can be made by check(s) or bank transfer(s). Information regarding payment methods is provided in the registration confirmation email.

An invoice for partial or full payment of your Big Challenge participation can be issued upon request. Please contact us for assistance.

Some of My Students Were Absent on Contest Day. Can They Be Refunded?

From September, we pre-order prizes to be confirmed at the registration deadline. Therefore, refunds are not possible. However, even if students are absent on contest day, the school will still receive prizes for all registered students (whether present or absent) since these prizes have already been purchased and cannot be stored for future years.

How Are the Registration Fees Used?

Registration fees fund all organizational costs for the contest. These include:

• Designing the questions and educational materials.

• Printing and mailing registration kits and posters.

• Printing, preparing, and shipping contest questionnaires.

• Processing answer sheets via optical reading.

• Preparing and shipping prize packages (around 3,000 packages annually).

• Maintaining the website and app.

These fees ensure the quality and continuity of The Big Challenge without any public funding.
